I didn’t get a river-view room, which would have been a nice spot to relax, but the room I checked into was clean and spacious. The staff were welcoming and helpful throughout, and when I got hungry on my first night, they ordered KFC for me from the lobby and contacted me when it arrived. On my last day, they also helped book a Didi to the railway station. I didn’t run into any rude or unfriendly staff, and I’d choose Holiday Inn Nanchang Riverside again if I return to Nanchang. For getting around, Middle Honggu Avenue Station on metro Line 2 is about a 7-10 minute walk from Exit 1. The path is a bit rough, and if you have large luggage, be ready to carry it up the stairs at the station. The hotel also connects to the Main, East, and West railway stations and is near places like Baiyi Square, Tengwang Pavilion, Baiyi Memorial Hall, and the food street, Ancient street shopping district. Some attractions require advance registration through Wechat or Alipay, so plan ahead. There’s a security check before you enter the metro, and you can pay with Alipay or buy a ticket at the machine. If you have time, it’s about a ten-minute walk to the riverside for the scenery.

Good breakfast, but the stay wasn’t worth the money, time, or nerves. The rooms were outdated and different from what I’d booked, and I had to argue about it. Reception didn’t make me feel welcome, there were bugs in the room, and pool tiles were falling out.
