We spent a week here. ChengYang district is calm and peaceful, though it's not near Qingdao city center. The hotel staff were great and helpful with everything. We didn't know Chinese, but we still managed to communicate really well. Food was the main issue. It wasn't the spiciness, just the same few options over and over, which got annoying. I ended up eating elsewhere because I knew the hotel would serve the same food again.

It's an affordable choice, especially with the airport only about a 10-minute drive away, though the city center and main sights take roughly an hour to reach. The place seems fairly recently built, but it was hard to call it a hotel. The room and breakfast felt more like a domestic motel. There was a kettle, tea, and bottled water in the room, but no mini-fridge or safe. A hairdryer is supplied in the bathroom, so you can leave yours at home even for a longer stay.

It's in a shabby area, so I couldn't really enjoy the nightlife. Feels like a Chinese-style motel, if that's even a thing.
