Qingdao Villa Inn Seaside

That huge window was my favorite part. After a day in the city or along the coast, sitting by it and looking at the ocean was so relaxing, and I liked being able to step out for a waterside stroll before bed. The room felt a little more humid than outdoors, but it got comfortable after the air conditioner had been on for a while. This was my second time at Villa Inn, about ten years after my first visit shortly after it opened. I wondered if it would feel old, and some furniture does show wear, but the place has been looked after and remains in very good condition. It has a bed-and-breakfast feel, though breakfast isn’t included. Housekeeping is available if you ask, which suited me. The soundproofing isn’t perfect, but it didn’t bother us and we slept well every night. I really enjoyed staying here and would come back.

The musty smell made my rhinitis worse, even though they said they had dehumidified the room. It felt like staying in a haunted house. Over my four nights, the sheets and toiletries were replaced just once. They were quick to handle things when I specifically asked, but otherwise they only took away the towels and emptied the trash. The staff respond quickly, though the service is worse than at a hotel. For the cost of one night, I’d recommend a hotel near Wanxiangcheng.
