Sanya Jialan Tinghai Inn

Ants, ants everywhere. We stayed in May 2018. The nice parts were the sea across the street, a good view of Phoenix Island, and a great terrace on the seventh floor. Reception staff were friendly, and you could ask them for laundry detergent. Laundry was free, there was a steamer, and the air conditioning was essential. The room had a cheerful design, water at reception was cheap, and there was a bus stop across the road for trips to Dodonghai. But the housekeeping was dreadful: dirty dishes, grime in corners, unwashed walls and tiles, and black marks on the sheets and towels. When I complained, I was told Russians were unfriendly. There’s no microwave or refrigerator, so keep that in mind when choosing. We also had ants and an anthill, plus a constant drain smell. There was an ashtray bin in the lobby, a common issue with Chinese people, though thankfully nobody smoked there. Chinese service seems unchanged since my stay at Fuyuan in 2008. The same issues with bugs and dirt, and apparently in all rooms. If you need help, ask the man at reception. He was the easiest to communicate with and the only one who spoke English.

It’s surprising to find this only tropical forest in Sanya in China. There were lots of people, but it was still full of emotion. 👑👑👑👑
