Four Points by Sheraton Shanghai, Daning

I was at the Four Points for a business trip in Dec '24. The bed was really comfortable, and the hotel felt clean and modern. My only issue was that I couldn't get the air conditioning to warm the room, so it was a little cold. The location is excellent, inside an outdoor shopping plaza with lots of shops, coffee places, and eateries. A large indoor shopping centre is close by too, with Western brands alongside mostly Chinese shops. I’ll most likely stay at the Four Points again next time I’m in Shanghai.

For work trips, this is a good option away from the busy Bund tourist area. The rooms are comfortable, with plenty of space, the usual business style, and a desk if you need one. There are a few international TV channels. Staff were friendly and helpful, and the gym facilities are decent. Breakfast offers lots of choices, though it’s mostly local food. Nearby, there are plenty of places to eat and familiar coffee shop brands. blue frog, the American-style burger place and sports bar just opposite, was a nice change from the excellent local food. Shops are all around, with a mall close by too.

This was my first business trip to China. The staff were supportive, and the hotel has an ATM and currency exchange inside. There are lots of shops and food places in the area, though the rooms aren't very big. Wi-Fi speed was average and TV choices limited. Breakfast had lots of options, but during my 15-day stay I ended up eating the same thing every day.

The staff were so helpful and friendly that I’d probably book this hotel again when I return to Shanghai. It does the basics well, with a ridiculously comfortable bed that made it hard to leave the room. It’s comfortable and affordable, and the surrounding area has pretty decent restaurants and lots of food choices. A semi-upscale mall is a two-minute walk away, and Shanghai Metro line 1 is very close. The view from the back isn’t great, though maybe the front is better. If you’re not too fussy about hotels and want one that handles the important things well, this is a good choice.
