A clean, well-kept room with the basic things needed for a comfortable stay. The hotel is conveniently situated near Xintiandi.

For a short stay, it’s an okay place. The location worked well, near Xintiandi and a few minutes on foot from subway stations. My first night was rough because the AC wasn’t working and I couldn’t communicate easily with the staff, since nobody spoke English. I had to sleep with the windows open, but they fixed it the next day.

I’m a businessman, though I didn’t find much business here. Mr Mao was a very nice man, and his spirit gave me some hope in this godforsaken world. If I could give no stars, I wouldn’t!

Some staff weren’t friendly, and checking in early cost an extra 89 yuan per room. The room had a fishy smell. On the lower floors, loud horn sounds could be heard all day, while the shared areas and elevator corridors looked old and dirty.
