The cruise company booked me here by mistake, and I ended up miles from the Bund, so I couldn't see the things I'd come to visit. I was stuck for two days. Nobody spoke English, there was no currency exchange or wifi, and no food was available. The rooms felt like two-star rooms, and staff stopped me when I tried to look around for facilities. Finding used condoms on the window ledge was the last straw. I'm an experienced traveler, but this was dire. If you're booking from the UK, check that this is really the place you want.

I'd booked weeks in advance, but only found out after arriving today that the power would be off from 11pm to 2am. They'd known about it for three days and never told me before I got there. I had to cancel. What would I do on the seventh floor if there were a fire?

It's a budget hotel in a good spot near the CBD. The open toilet, though, was personally a dealbreaker for me 😢.
