Magnificent International Hotel

The room was okay, but I had an unsatisfying stay. Some staff were good, though one man with glasses at reception spoke rudely and wasn’t helpful to a guest. The staff looking after the luggage weren’t helpful either. I couldn’t find any service-minded staff here. I also didn’t feel it was safe to walk from the train station to the hotel at night.

It was clean, comfortable, and affordable, but I wouldn’t describe it as luxurious. The room looked old, with some peeling paint, and the shower door kept swinging open. I didn’t get much time to explore Shanghai, though many sights seemed within walking distance. I think the window on the other side of the building would have had a much better view.

I booked a room for the 19th through the 25th, but when I arrived around 6am on the 20th, there was no room available. They said I’d have to pay an extra fee for early check-in. Don’t book this hotel.

The room was spacious, and I stayed in a triple. This is a simple, clean, very budget-friendly hotel in Shanghai. The metro is about a 10-minute walk away, but there are no convenience stores or eateries nearby, so you’ll need to walk around 10 minutes for those. It was okay overall.
