Being only about 100 meters from Exit 6 of Subway Line 2 and a 10-minute walk from the Bund made this place really convenient. The room itself had no window and felt more like a guesthouse. I chose it to save on travel costs, and for a solo trip or anyone trying to keep expenses down, I’d recommend it. Traveling with a partner might have been a different story, since the facilities were rough enough that I might have gotten kicked in the butt.

The owners were kind and considerate, and having them around the lobby made the place feel almost like home. They were even grilling steaks while I was there, lol. The hotel is old, but it’s cheap and good value, and the toilets flush properly, so it should be fine for experienced travelers. With subway lines 2 and 10 right nearby, it’s an easy base, and the Bund is close enough to see the night view every night. I’ll definitely come back.

There’s a good noodle and rice place just across from the hotel. Ask for a small bowl, since the large one is enough for two. The Shanghai Bund is about a 15-minute walk away.
