The hotel was clean and the service was good. Google Maps makes it look like there’s a KFC or McDonald’s nearby, but there isn’t. The closest decent place to eat is Hongqiao railway station, two stops away on line 10.

We waited two hours for a taxi in the rain.

The room was old, and so was the furniture. It smelled damp and unpleasant, while the carpet was musty. The pillows, mattress, and blankets all smelled of cigarettes even though there was a no-smoking sign. We could hear noise from outside because the room wasn’t soundproof, and the air conditioning didn’t work, so we had to open the window. It was late in the evening, and switching hotels would have been inconvenient with our flight at 9 a.m.

Getting around was easy, with the airport very close and a subway station nearby. As a business hotel, it’s much like others of that kind. The soundproofing could be better, though, since hallway sounds and noise from next door came through.

The bathroom is tiny, really tiny, and the rooms aren’t very comfortable. It’s only a five-minute walk to a metro station, but on the way you pass another hotel first and can’t help wondering why you didn’t book that one.
