The Shanghai EDITION

Fresh fruit or berries arrived in my room every morning, a lovely touch. The rooms were spacious, comfortable, and luxurious, and the hotel was very clean. Service was excellent and professional. The Edition Hotel is right in the heart of Nanjing Road, close to everything. I’d happily stay again.

The location is excellent, right in the middle of Shanghai’s shopping district, but my stay at The Shanghai EDITION was very mixed. The first room was an ordinary, uninspiring entry-level room with a depressing view of the back of a warehouse. At this price, that wasn’t what I expected from a premium hotel. I asked to change rooms the next day and was upgraded to one with a beautiful view of the Oriental Pearl Tower. It had the space, design, and amenities I expected. As a Titanium member and frequent traveler, I do wonder why that wasn’t my room from the start. The staff were polite, but the service felt short of the attentiveness and refinement I’d expect from The EDITION brand. They weren’t rude. After similarly poor stays at The Dubai EDITION and now here, this will probably be my last stay at an EDITION hotel. The experience doesn’t justify the brand or the price.

The dining and atmosphere at The Shanghai EDITION were the highlights for me. There are several excellent options inside the hotel: refined all-day dining at Shanghai Tavern and inventive Japanese food at Yone Restaurant & Bar. Every meal was delicious and felt thoughtfully prepared. The dishes were presented with care and creativity, and even the simple items felt elevated. The setting is elegant and modern, and the rooftop bar has gorgeous views of the Shanghai skyline, a great spot for a special night out. Staff were welcoming and professional, attentive without getting in the way. Whether you’re staying there or just going for food and drinks, the dining is well worth trying. Highly recommended!

For our fourth anniversary, we spent a night at Shanghai edition, and it was the right choice. Our premium bund room view was the best, and I loved the room and the view. The hotel is right among everything, from The bund and malls to rock bund and the subway. It has a gym, warm pools, a rooftop bar, and a restaurant. A special shout-out to “Colin” for the exceptional service. He looked after us so well and made the night memorable. We’ll stay at Shanghai edition again if we visit Shanghai. One of the best hotel experiences I’ve had.
