Aifeel Hotel (Shenyang Zhongjie)

I wasn’t well enough to try the pool or gym, which was disappointing since both looked great. Still, the staff and management were wonderful when I arrived sick after the flight from Australia with my friend. A manager even came with me to a local hospital so I could get help and medication. My non-smoking room was fresh, clean, and well kept. Staff in both restaurants, many of whom spoke English, gave great service, and the food was excellent. I can’t say enough good things about how they looked after me.

I expect better from Hilton. The room stayed unbearably hot, with the thermostat reading 26.5 degrees, even though the evenings outside were fairly cold. I arrived late and really didn’t want to start the night adjusting a locked thermostat. The front desk said they could only send a fan, which helped a little but still left me struggling to sleep. For the second night, the executive lounge suggested opening the window. It only opens a small amount for safety, so that made no difference. If air conditioning is listed as an amenity, guests should be able to use it and control the room temperature.

There’s a big market right next to the hotel. The rooms are alright, though they’re already a few years old. Breakfast was okay, and the service was too.

Handy for a short stay. Downtown is about 15 minutes away, and the Shenyang Forbidden city takes around 30 minutes to reach.
