Secret Wild Resort Shenzhen Guanhu

The sea view was beautiful, easily the best part, but it couldn't make up for the state of the room. The floors were sticky, the towels and sheets didn't feel clean, the walls had dirt marks and wear, and there were lots of mosquitoes. The room felt old, poorly maintained, and unhygienic. We booked expecting a 5-star resort based on the photos and price, but it felt more like a run-down 2-3 star Airbnb. The staff were generally polite, which we appreciated, but that wasn't enough to make the stay good. The biggest problem was safety. My mom and baby were sitting on an outdoor chair shown in the photo when it collapsed and they fell. My mom held onto the baby tightly, thankfully, but it could have been much worse if he had hit the hard floor. That's completely unacceptable and dangerous. Dining was difficult too. There's only one restaurant on the property, and they discourage in-room dining because of insects, so options are very limited. Our toddler got a bit fussy, which is normal and sometimes unavoidable, and a staff member asked us to calm him because he was affecting other guests. There were only two other tables, and no one seemed to complain. It left us feeling uncomfortable and unwelcome as a family with a young child. We had booked two nights but checked out early because of the safety incident and the poor condition. The hotel gave only a partial refund, which didn't reflect what happened, especially the safety hazard. We had to return to the city immediately. Misleading photos, poor cleanliness and maintenance, safety concerns, not family-friendly, and not worth the price. It wasn't a pleasant stay, and we wouldn't recommend it.
