The city views from the top-floor restaurant were a highlight, and breakfast had a good range of Chinese and Western food. I spent two nights here while visiting Nanshan. The hotel is on a busy main road, with plenty of places to eat, shops, and convenient transport nearby. My room was spacious, clean, and modern, with good lighting, a comfortable bed, and a layout that worked well for relaxing or getting some work done. Everything felt well maintained, and it was a comfortable place to come back to after a long travel day.

The spa on the fifth floor was convenient. An 80-minute foot massage cost RMB 389 for hotel guests and included a meal, which surprised me since I’d already had dinner. It seemed family friendly, based on the other guests. The repeated attempts to sell me a spa package, with promises of pretty attendants serving tea and chatting, got in the way of what I wanted, which was just a foot massage. The hotel has recently been renovated and is about 20 minutes from Shekou Cruise Centre, with lots of eateries nearby. Staff were friendly and helpful. Free washing machines and a dryer were very useful. The in-house restaurant and room service close at 9 pm, which wasn’t a big problem for me. I did notice a smoky smell on the non-smoking floor.

In December, Shenzhen can get above 20 degrees, and temperatures shift between day and night. Even so, the service team wouldn’t turn on the room air conditioning.
