Novotel Suzhou SIP

The location made getting to the expo center, the art and culture center, restaurants, and the harbor easy. My room was clean and fairly modern, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The internet was the one real snag: it was so slow that I had to use my phone's data to connect my laptop. Everything else was excellent, so I gave it four stars.

Breakfast was a highlight, with plenty of choices across both Eastern and Western dishes. I especially liked the Suzhou noodles, and being able to choose different protein toppings. Service also made a strong impression, and I felt treated like a VIP. The hotel sits by Suzhou Exhibition Center and Jinji Lake Park, where there are lots of places to eat and things to do. Subway Line 1 is right by the main entrance, and Times Square Mall is only one stop away. Even though it's outside the city center, I found it great value and would strongly recommend staying here.

The room was roomy and comfortable for two, with the shower and toilet in separate spaces. The bed was firm, though the pillows felt too soft to me, and the shower pressure was a little weak. There’s also a decent-sized gym and a heated lap pool. Getting around was easy: the exhibition grounds are a few minutes on foot, Jinji Lake is walkable, and there’s a mall nearby. A Line 1 metro exit is right beside the hotel entrance. The lobby is spacious, and the staff were friendly from the front desk through housekeeping and concierge. The concierge handled more than 20 Taobao packages I’d sent ahead of my arrival, organized them quickly, and brought them to my room within minutes. Breakfast had a good spread, from bread, pastries, and sausages to porridge and noodles made at a live station. For the price we paid, it was a great hotel.

A mall is about 15-20 minutes away, and I had another comfortable stay here, as usual. I did wonder whether it was normal to see guests smoking in the corridor. Aside from that, it’s a solid place for a relaxing stay.
