Solar Villas - Hostel

It’s a long walk to the beach and pier, but at least they’re within walking distance. Getting to the hotel with luggage was rough: taxis can’t go directly there, and the website didn’t mention that. We had to walk up a dark, uneven road. The front desk person looked more like a guard and spoke no English. Nearby, there were no food or drink options, only vending machines that wouldn’t take cash or bank cards. There’s no elevator, just tiny stairs. We also couldn’t find an outlet that fit our devices, so we’ve relied on our power bank the whole time. One of the toilets was leaking, and it left an unpleasant smell outside.

The room was clean and spacious, with basic hotel essentials, and worked well for a big group or family. Hong Kong Disneyland is just 20 minutes away. Staff were friendly and helpful, with amazing customer service. Special thanks to Ryan and the security guard, who arranged our transportation to Hong Kong Disneyland and the airport. The area is quiet, but access isn’t easy, and security on the island is a bit tight. There’s no elevator, so you’ll have to carry all your luggage to your room yourself.

The room was big, clean, cool and had lots of beds. I really enjoyed staying here. It’s a calm area, and the beach is about a 10-minute walk away. There’s a heater too.

This suits groups or families who aren’t in a rush and want a relaxed stay, especially if they’re in Hong Kong for 7 days or more. It’s a bit inconvenient for getting to Tsim Sha Tsui or Central. There’s a beach nearby and the night view is great, so you could stay here for 2 or 3 days and then move somewhere else. A tip: avoid Mattress on the Floor, the horrible hostel with private rooms in the Wan Chai and Jordan areas. The dorm beds are only 2 feet apart, and some even touch. The male dorm, mixed dorm and private rooms are all in the same apartment in an old mansion.
