Conrad Xiamen

The building and lobby are beautiful, and the view is fantastic. The location is great too. I’d give the room four stars. It was generally clean and well maintained, and I liked the comfortable bed. But in one room, the safe, toilet control, and coffee machine all didn’t work. What a coincidence. It makes me think they don’t check the facilities often. Breakfast was very good and met high standards, but service deserves three stars. The Chinese restaurant Lu Cheng Xuan was disappointing. At about $120 per person, the food tasted poor despite good, fresh ingredients. Portions were small, and some dishes were so bland even the kids didn’t like them. Only three tables were occupied, yet they said several dishes weren’t available. Two of the three tables made complaints. This restaurant doesn’t deserve its rating. We checked out at 5am. The only front desk guy was busy talking on the phone to someone who wasn’t a customer and ignored the actual guest who needed help. Very unprofessional.

The views were breathtaking, and there was plenty of food to choose from in a convenient location. What stood out most to me was the service from the young, lively staff. Lille, Doran and Minh at the concierge deserve a special mention. Their friendly help and attention to detail made us feel very welcome. One of my best hotel stays in China. Thank you!

Conrad Xiamen has a lovely seaview and an upscale feel that suits a few days of relaxing in comfort. The beach is an easy short drive away, and the staff are friendly. It’s a good option if you’re after a beach or sea-view stay and don’t mind paying for the view and the hotel’s luxury. The main drawback for me was the high nightly price. Lowering it would probably make the hotel extremely popular.

All the tourist spots are within walking distance, and the location is great. But none of the three bedrooms in our group were cleaned properly. Dust inside the hairdryer gave me an allergic reaction. If you have sensitive skin, I wouldn’t recommend it.
