Bring comfortable shoes because there’s plenty of walking and no transportation on Gulangyu. The island feels peaceful and safe, with a summery feel as you wander around. Food and drinks are easy to find, from street stalls to restaurants, but public restrooms are hard to locate because there are no signs showing where they are.
It’s a great place to walk around, and we had a good time both during the day and at night. There isn’t much English.
Go at your own risk. The crowds are huge, with people pushing and shoving.
I thought Google didn't work in China.
There's something for all ages here, including water activities. It's a great, photogenic attraction and a cultural heritage site.
