Mehood Hotel

I stayed at the Mehood Hotel in Xining, Qinghai for three days soon after it opened in July 2018. I was also there to give the DaV store's first live Sudoku tutorial. The hotel was in a newly developed area, and it was generally clean, well run, polite, and welcoming, with plenty of free snacks. What stuck with me was the staff refusing my tip. After I left a note, the waiter replied that they should have dried the room and prepared a humidifier. Five years later, I was hoping to return to China and stay there again. I had another memorable moment over a tea kettle I left behind. The cleaning staff wouldn't take it, even after I left a message encouraging them to. Miss Zhang wrote back that they were simply doing their job, and turned down the tip too. Instead, she left an air moisture control device, explaining that the local weather was dry and it would be good for my health. It felt like a four-star experience, even though I give this three-star hotel five stars.
