This is a sacred place for Chinese tea. There’s a longer route that takes about four hours to see everything, or a two-hour short trip. You can take a thrilling cable car too. Highly recommended.

A walk through the forest takes you past temples, sculptures, and gardens. The trail reaches the 1,456-meter summit, which can be climbed on foot up some fairly steep steps or reached by cable car. Mengdingshan is a humid mountain that's often misty in the mornings. It's said to be the world's oldest tea plantation, dating to the 1st century BC. On the way back, the Tea Museum and a tea tasting at a nearby tea room are a lovely stop.
