The hotel was busy, and breakfast felt like the main gathering point. Getting there around 6:15 am seemed like a good idea, since choices were limited, though the staff refilled things quickly and cleared tables promptly. On our first day, one of the crew was especially friendly and accommodating. She waved goodbye and showed us how to say thank you in Chinese, which made for a really nice start to the day. Our room was smaller than I’d expect at a four-star hotel, but it had a lovely feel, and the pillows and sheets were clean and comfortable. The air conditioning worked well. There wasn’t a bidet, and they left two pairs of rubber slippers. Our tour guide had reminded us not to take them home, haha. No complaints otherwise.

We only came with our tour group for lunch, not to stay overnight. The staff were quick and attentive, but the barbecue meal was a letdown. There wasn’t much variety, and the food tasted just so-so.

On the evening of April 2, 2024, I noticed my camera wasn’t working right, around 8 pm, before my planned visit to the National Park of Zhangjiajie the next day. I asked at the front desk where I might find a camera shop. Mr. Huang Kang explained that most shops in town would be closed by then, but called a taxi to take me to the city center, where most camera shops are. He even came out with me to meet the taxi. I got the camera fixed, and the help was far beyond what I expected. Outstanding service.

The room was small but clean, and the stay was great overall. The air conditioning can heat the room in winter, though the shower was a bit short and its pressure was a little too strong.

The furnishings are brand new, and the room is small. What disappointed me most was the lack of air conditioning in the room. It only had regular air coming through the vent, which reception confirmed.
