The manager told me that at Anapomia, they try to teach guests something about themselves and the environment. Their suggestion was to switch off your mind and phone, then take a dip in paradise. The gardens and wildlife around the property are extraordinary, and the helpful, kind staff and hardworking chefs make the most of local ingredients. Colombia's mountains, wildlife, and pleasant year-round temperatures make it a real find for travelers. Natura Anapomia feels like a little of everything the country offers in one place. I remember a chapter in the Lonely Planets guide to Colombia saying it would be paradise without the crime and narcotics. You get a luxury resort and all the amenities modern society can offer. The only drawbacks are no Wi-Fi in the rooms and no air conditioning, both of which seem easy enough to fix.

The pools were fantastic for kids and adults, and there’s plenty of lovely greenery around the hotel. The grounds and facilities felt really pleasant. Our apartment was spacious and cool, with a kitchen and cookware. The gas burners were weak, though, apparently because they hadn’t had preventative maintenance. The sliding door in Apartment 05 was also hard to move and needs its rollers lubricated. A few other things could use attention: the tennis court surface is fair, but its net is in poor shape, and the basketball court nets are torn. The ping pong rackets need replacing too. At the children’s treehouse, the slide is broken at both the top and bottom, and it needs a sign showing the minimum and maximum ages. The zip line also needs a sign listing its age and weight limits.
