The fishing and whale watching here are incredible, and the sunsets with the mountains are breathtaking. The town felt really safe and welcoming, too, and it's a great place for anyone who enjoys nature and the outdoors. The lodge was beautiful, clean, and well cared for, with perfect accommodations and such nice, welcoming owners. Five out of five!

Don Rodrigo has so much knowledge and wisdom, and his love of nature comes through when you spend time with him. Try joining one of the excursions; with his biology background, he can make a jungle or sea trip much more than just a tour. “la naturalezza” often comes up in conversation. Estrella, his wife, is a wonderful cook, always smiling and helpful, and their daughter Maria is welcoming and happy to listen and offer advice. This family-run place gives you a genuine local experience. Amazing people, and a great source of positive energy.

We never got to meet Rodrigo, but Estrella and her sister Gloria were fantastic hosts. The friendly, knowledgeable staff, clean spaces, and wonderful atmosphere made Posada del Mar a great choice for our Pacific Coast trip from Medellín, and we were glad we followed the earlier reviews. Expect rain on the coast, but it needn't keep you from diving, hiking to waterfalls, or tackling the challenging surf. El Valles is where to go if you want to watch the waves, though prices are steep for the limited amenities. I’d rather stay here.

The cabanas are simple but decent, with good mosquito nets, and WiFi is available. It’s a handy base for whale watching tours or hikes in the area. The owners know only a limited amount of English.

It was alright, but for a very similar price you can find much better at Yubarta. I chose this place because Lonely Planet recommended it.
