We stayed for 12 days because we liked both the guesthouse and the town more than we expected. It was peaceful and quiet after noisier San Gil in the valley, and the owners were helpful and friendly. Our room was well equipped, and the Wifi worked well. From the window we could watch the courtyard garden, where Scrub Tanager and Saffron Finch often appeared. Just around the block, there was a well-pathed patch of forest with huge native trees and some of the tallest palms I've seen. We spotted Agoutis moving through the leaves there. The town is charming and handles its many tourists well. A block or two from the main plaza, it felt almost empty. We'd gladly return to both the town and the guesthouse. Photos: 1 and 2 show the guesthouse interior. 3 and 4 are the Scrub Tanager and Saffron Finch that often visited outside our window. 5-7 show the forest around the block, including a Whooping Motmot and Agouti. 8-10 are views of the town.

For what I paid, the room was spacious and comfortable. Hot water was the reason for my four stars. The rest of the hostel is quite basic, but it was enough for a night's sleep. I'd recommend it to solo travelers or anyone who just needs a place to stay.

We loved the place enough to extend our stay. The staff were very friendly, the breakfasts were delicious, and the rooms were tastefully decorated. They also offer laundry on site, and our laundry came back spotless and smelling lovely. A great hostal in Barichara, highly recommended!
