Dann Carlton Barranquilla

We spent several hours at El Giratorio, and the staff were patient, attentive, and never made us feel hurried. Everything we ordered was delicious and cooked just right.

The hotel is modern, comfortable, and clean, with excellent service from everyone on staff. A big plus is Buenavista just across the street, a huge mall with all sorts of businesses, including restaurants, supermarkets, and drugstores.

For what we paid for the suite, this was the worst accommodation I've had. It felt cold, the decor looked cheap, and the Grand Suite was the worst of the suites I booked. The minibar had only three waters and soft drinks, and the room lacked a bath towel, coffee maker, alarm clock, and iron. After I complained to the front desk, I got towels, but it took two days after speaking to them in person to get the other items. The coffee maker they brought was broken, so I had to buy my own filter and coffee. Room service was a letdown too, with something missing from every meal. Breakfast was terrible: the scrambled eggs were cold, and I couldn't choose how I wanted them because they only had two kinds of precooked eggs. When something ran out, it was gone, even if you arrived early. Service at breakfast was poor. The only positive was housekeeping. A motel would be better than this hotel.

The only thing going for Dann Carlton is that it sits across from a large mall. If you don’t speak Spanish, I’d stay somewhere else. My husband and I were there from 10/29/2025 through 10/31/2025 in room 1101. I’d booked a grand suite with two large rooms, two TVs, and one and a half bathrooms, including a bathtub. It looked just like the photos when we arrived, but noise began after we went out shopping. It carried on when we got back, then stopped after a while. The next day, it became clear there was construction above us. Reception said workers would be remodeling from 9 to 5. They showed little concern when I explained I was trying to rest and didn’t want another 5 to 6 hours of noise. The person at reception contacted the manager and said we wanted a grand suite away from the noise. An hour later they called with another room. They moved us to what I suspect was an unused room, judging by the state of the bathroom. It was a one-room king suite with no tub. My husband had a Zoom meeting to set up for 12:30. At checkout, I asked for a credit because the new room was smaller. The manager, Lusema, said we'd been moved to a newer tower where the room cost more. She said the website was wrong and refused a credit for the smaller one-bedroom room. She and the staff were extremely rude. They switched to Spanish, said something about English, and kept insisting the two rooms cost the same. I’d give reception and management zero stars if I could.
