Wyndham Garden Barranquilla

The welcome from the arrival team was good, and service from the staff was exceptional all the way through housekeeping. Everyone was friendly and polite, and the cocktails were great. Lucy the general manager was especially helpful and wonderful. I want to thank the whole team. I really recommend this hotel to anyone planning a trip to Barranquilla. Five stars.

The room I was initially offered, instead of the one I’d booked through Booking.com, didn’t have working air conditioning. Staff blamed an alleged power outage, but I’d lived in the area for five years and outages are extremely rare unless there’s a major storm. That worried me because my wife is unwell and needs air conditioning for comfort. They eventually moved us to another room, which turned out to be the very room I’d been offered in place of my original booking. On arrival, I’d been told the booking system had made an error and that my reserved room wasn’t available, despite the app confirming it. We were only in town for one night before my wife’s chemotherapy treatment the next day, and I’d hoped for a smooth stay. The front desk staff weren’t helpful. The bellboy ended up stepping in, and a manager offered to help after I asked to speak with one. Then, at about 6:30 the next morning, a staff member repeatedly asked my wife for our room number at breakfast. We didn’t remember it right away after all the confusion the night before. The employee kept pressing instead of checking discreetly, which felt intrusive and unnecessary, especially so early. If the hotel needs to verify guests for security, there should be a more comfortable way to do that. Between the booking problem, poor service, information that seemed misleading, and the uncomfortable questioning at breakfast, I can’t recommend this hotel. I hope they take the feedback seriously and improve things so other guests don’t go through the same issues. I’d appreciate a response to my concerns. The breakfast buffet had plenty of local and international choices, and the cleaning crew were caring and respectful. Getting around was easy too: the hotel is within walking distance of the main clinics, pharmacies, grocery stores, and shopping centers, which makes it a great spot if you're in town for medical care. The restaurant staff paid close attention to what we needed, and Nathaly and Keler, the SENA intern, made our experience especially good. Everyone was absolutely friendly and helpful. The three doormen kept an eye out whenever we came or went, helping us get into our car.

The lobby felt disorganized and uncomfortable because it stayed crowded with people who weren't hotel guests. My room was still being cleaned after 5:00 PM, even though check-in was at 3:00. Management needs to sort out these operational problems. Unfortunately, the stay was disappointing.
