Cabañas Palos locos

The brothers were incredibly friendly, and the beach was spotless. Staff were meticulous about keeping things clean. Breakfast was enough, with protein and coffee, and lunch was delicious, made the way we wanted. I loved the place and would stay again if I return. There was even a beautiful, very affectionate kitten wandering around. I’d been a bit worried after reading reviews, but water is scarce all over Barú, and power cuts and seawater for flushing toilets are island-wide issues, not specific to this place. For the price, it’s a great beachfront cabin.

😞 A very disappointing stay at Cabañas Palo Loco Baru. The property was in terrible condition, which was a real problem for my family and me. We had no water or electricity, and the bathrooms smelled like sewage and weren’t clean. Breakfast was scant and didn’t look hygienic, so we lost our appetite. There weren’t enough beds for all the guests, and some of us had to sleep on the floor because services were being resold. Overall, the experience was very bad, and I wouldn’t recommend Cabañas Palo Loco Baru.

Baru has lovely beaches, but there are plenty of other places to stay in the area. Here, the breakfast was meager, the rooms had no water for flushing toilets, and there weren’t enough beds or pillows for my family of 20. The owner said each bed could fit three adults, despite charging exorbitant per-person rates for a supposed “paradise experience.” Don Ricardo was rude and dismissive when we complained. His brother Don Carlos, the manager, tried to help, but lacked the ability to solve the underlying problems and kept telling us to make ourselves comfortable. They weren’t prepared for our group. Don’t go unless it’s a steal.

A very bad stay. There was no water or electricity, the bathrooms didn’t work, and leaks flooded the rooms. Organization was poor, and they kept accepting tourists under false pretenses despite not having capacity for so many people. Mr. Ricardo had a terrible attitude and little empathy or respect when answering calls and complaints.
