I was unsure about staying at Viajero Bogota as a solo traveler in my 40s, given Viajeros' reputation as a party spot for people in their 20s. It turned out to be a really good stay. The staff were attentive and friendly, my room was excellent, and breakfast was good, though I’d have preferred Colombian barista coffee to Nespresso. I was also delighted that I could use the spa after checking out. Restaurants, bars, and parks are within walking distance, and the area felt quite safe.

Natasha made the activities a real highlight. She took us around the historic center on a walking tour, then brought guests together for canelazo at the hostel bar that night. Both were included, which was great. The hostel is centrally located, and my room was clean and comfortable. A tour, evening drinks, and a good night's sleep made for a lovely stay.

The missing kitchen was the main drawback for me. It’s downstairs, but there are no cooking facilities, so you don’t get the usual hostel kitchen and dining area for meeting other travelers. If you’re not planning to cook, though, that may not matter. I stayed three nights and liked the reasonably priced breakfast. Reception and the rest of the team were helpful, the location was great for getting from the airport or heading to attractions, and there was an activity almost every day.

The shared-room bathroom setup can be inconvenient. If it’s occupied, you might have to go to another floor, and for a shower you need to use the sauna showers downstairs. Also factor in extra charges for breakfast, towels, and sauna access before booking. There’s plenty happening here, so the place feels lively and fun. Reception were very kind, and Jay at the bar was lovely too.
