Hotel Egina Bogota

The location in Bogotá worked well for both work and leisure, and I found the rooms comfortable and the facilities spotless. Service was attentive throughout. A dependable place to stay in the city.

Another reservation caused big problems when I got to Bogota, but Hotel Egina had a room available at the last minute and came through for me. Thanks for saving the day. The hotel, room, and staff were lovely.

Being only a minute or two on foot from Unicentro Mall was a huge plus. It has restaurants, an Exito grocery store, Claro for SIM cards, Western Union for exchanging money, and plenty more. The hotel itself is in a quiet, safe part of north Bogota, and there's a very basic gym upstairs. I got an upgrade as a Gold Expedia member. My second-floor room was spacious and clean, with a street-facing window, safe, mini fridge, comfortable beds and pillows, strong Wi-Fi, and very good hot water. I took the stairs because they were easier than the elevator. A friendly, cheerful staff member showed me to the room. Breakfast was above average, though not amazing, and I really enjoyed it. The breakfast staff member was kind and checked on me a couple of times. The room was inexpensive, so the value for the price was five stars. Check-in and checkout could be quicker. It would also help to have a complimentary bottle of water, a kettle for tea or coffee, instructions for the safe in English, and a small note with the Wi-Fi password and directions to nearby Unicentro.

My stay was frustrating from the beginning. I had booked for two, but they first tried to put me in a tiny single room. When I asked for the room I had paid for, they charged another 30,000 pesos. An hour before checkout, the water was shut off, so I couldn't shower properly before heading to the airport. Now I'm late for my flight because of it. They also quoted an outrageous laundry price, nearly as much as a night's stay, without telling me the cost in advance. The receptionist was rude and dismissive, treating us like we were a bother. There was no transparency, courtesy, or professionalism. One of the worst hotel experiences I've had, and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. I'll attach photos and videos to support what happened.
