Hilton Garden Inn Bogota Airport

The room was a bright spot on our one night here during a long layover on our way back to the USA after visiting Colombia. It had a comfortable bed, good soundproofing, a clean bathroom and excellent shower pressure. The free airport shuttle had a friendly driver and a clean vehicle. Checkout was easy too, and when we left shortly after 3am, the security guard opened the door for us as we got our Didi back to the airport. The trouble was check-in. The front desk agent spent 30 minutes looking for our reservation, even though I showed him the email from AAdvantage hotels, powered by RocketTravel, which is owned by the parent of Booking.com. It included the hotel's confirmation number. My wife watched another agent check in about seven guests while I waited. Agoda's customer service line was busy, but when I finally got through, the agent found my reservation. The hotel staff didn't apologize and said third parties sometimes provide the wrong confirmation number. As we left the lobby after checking in, my wife asked to speak to the manager. He didn't speak English and needed another front desk agent to translate. He was more apologetic, but there was no service recovery. I'm still giving three stars because of the shuttle, the room and the smooth checkout.

It's a handy airport stopover, about 10 minutes away on the hotel shuttle, and I stayed here in July on my way to Barranquilla. For a short visit the hotel works well. The rooms are comfortable and generally clean, with cozy beds, though they were a little dark for my taste. The carpet looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a while, and a bathroom bulb wasn't working. They're standard rooms, much like you'd find at other big hotel chains. Dinner downstairs started with excellent service. The food was decent, nothing special but fine for a quick meal. Later on, staff got less attentive, so I had to get up twice to ask them to clear our plates and bring the check. A good enough stay for a layover, but service consistency and attention to room details could be better. I'd stay again for a layover, though for a longer or more upscale Bogotá trip I'd probably choose somewhere else.

For an airport traveler in Bogotá, this place is a real find. The rooms are quiet and spacious, and there's luggage service, an airport shuttle, a spa and a great breakfast spread. Only little drawback was the baby crib, its floor sat too low. A top choice!

Check-in took a good half hour, and the couple beside me had the same problem with being overcharged and the hotel refusing to correct the rate. They added at least 10% to my booked price for no stated reason, wouldn't adjust it, and said the booking rate was just a “reference.” Very frustrating and unprofessional. This place feels scammy. I expect management to contact me and make it right.
