Hostal Chorro De Quevedo Candelaria

The rooftop terrace was amazing for a sunset and good company, and the staff were super nice and helpful. You could pay for a late checkout and store your luggage. Cold beers were for sale at reception and in a little shop next door. It's reasonably clean, and for this price I don't think you can expect much more. The hostal itself is very basic, with small rooms and no windows, but enough for a good night's sleep. There's an old-fashioned TV in the rooms and a bathroom with hot water, a big plus. This isn't a quiet place at all, and suits people who like parties and company. It's in what felt like the best part of the city center, with good music, food, nightlife, art, and nice people around. A great spot to experience 100% Colombia.

The noise carries through the whole place, especially when drunk older guys are talking in the middle of the night. The mattress is just a thin layer of foam, so it feels like sleeping on the floor. A proper mattress would make a big difference.

You can hear everything through the rooms, and the stale oil-paint smell from the recent repainting made my throat itch. The sheets were dirty, and I couldn't tell whether they get changed regularly. The toilet had no seat, either. The rooms have no windows and are so tiny that a tall person would have a hard time fitting; the double bed barely fits two. The beds are so hard I woke with back pain. I know it's a cheap stay in the heart of Candelaria, but it doesn't meet basic standards. We've stayed in hostels at similar prices and this was far worse. There are much nicer places for 10,000 pesos more per night.

The video of our room says it all. Even at a low price, this wasn't worth it. One of the worst hostels I've stayed in. Don't go there.
