Makarena Hostel

I spent a few days at Makarena Hostel and would happily stay again. It was clean, organized, and had a peaceful feel, just right for unwinding after exploring the city. The staff were friendly and attentive from the start, and helped with anything I needed or recommendations for places to visit. The location also made it easy to get around. I’d recommend it for a comfortable stay, a great atmosphere, and a good price 😊.

I really enjoyed my stay. It’s a house in the Corferias area, very central and quiet, and the spaces are clean, tidy, and well maintained. Customer service over WhatsApp was efficient, and they sent all the instructions I needed. Highly recommended.

After 20 hours on a bus, we took a 30,000 COP taxi to the accommodation as planned, then got no answer from them. I had first contacted them on WhatsApp about booking through booking.com. They offered the same price directly, 76,000 COP instead of 96,000 COP, saying there would be no tax. It seemed like they advertised on the platform and then removed the listing to arrange things secretly over WhatsApp. Maybe these things happen, but after an hour waiting on the sidewalk, a neighbor who had seen us there lent us his phone so we could call again. Then they answered, as if by magic, and said they hadn’t counted our reservation and had no solution for us. We met someone who had rented our accommodation at a high price through Hostelworld during that miserable wait, which ended in heavy rain and hail. Soaked, we had to find a hotel at the last minute. We wasted money on the taxi and lost a huge amount of time and energy. I don’t really know what the hostel itself is like, but I imagine the staff give you a sense of it. I hope karma treats you the way you treat other people, poor thing. Zero stars if I could.
