Matisse Hotel

The location was very good, and the shower had hot water with great pressure. It was also an inexpensive place for two people, and I’d stay again. The staff were lovely, and the room was spotless, with a huge comfortable bed. They provided towels, soap, and shampoo, plus a hair dryer and safe in my room. I only wish I’d had more time there. Breakfast was available for about 16000$, which seemed like a good deal compared with other places, but unfortunately I didn’t get to try it.

The room was very basic: one small towel, a little bar of soap, a lamp that wouldn’t work because its plug didn’t fit the outlet, a broken TV, dim lighting, mild in the bathroom, and yellowed sheets. Worst of all, traffic made the place vibrate and shake all day and night, like endless earthquake tremors. The reviews seem very outdated compared with my experience, which was anything but pleasant. The staff were lovely, but nobody spoke English. At the time I’m writing this, The Holiday Inn Express across the street was about $20 more per night. I wouldn’t stay here again unless price were my only deciding factor.

The rooms are extremely cheap, yet have everything you need, and the space is laid out smartly. I liked being able to switch off the room light from beside the bed. Matisse Hotel is a good choice for a short stay in Bogotá if you’re not expecting anything fancy. It’s a simple, no-fuss place in a great spot near loads of restaurants.

The staff were really helpful and friendly, and the location is great for a very reasonable price.
