SM Grand Hotel

I only needed a room for one night in Bogotá, and I'm glad I tried this place. Mine wasn't big, but it was just right for one person for a night. It was very close to shopping malls and a convention center, and fairly close to the airport. Cleanliness was spot on. I'd stay here again.

If you’re stuck with an airport layover and don’t want to deal with Bogota traffic, this is a handy place to rest, shower, and get cleaned up before or after heading out to Colombia. The Hotel Grand Plaza has modern rooms and the basics a traveler needs. There’s also a restaurant with good food at fair prices. The beer choices are limited, though that seems common at hotels in Colombia.

I was told breakfast was included when I checked in, and the website said the same, but downstairs I was told my room didn’t cover it. Check that detail if breakfast matters to you. Also, someone came knocking every morning to inspect the fridge and snacks. Why not do that during housekeeping? I was asleep and asked her to return later, but she kept insisting. Terrible service. Avoid this hotel.

The area feels safe and convenient, and it’s close to THE US embassy. The room was clean and nice, too. My only question is why there was no AC. I guess hotels in Bogota generally don’t have it?
