Viaggio Nueve Tres Suites

The rooms are roomy and comfortable, and some balconies look out over the city. It’s in a safe, lively part of Bogotá, with restaurants and things to do just a short walk away. The staff were helpful and breakfast was tasty. It’s good value, though mornings can be noisy, and there’s no A/C because of the weather.

The neighborhood felt comfortable to walk around, and I found an artisan burger place nearby where I got a 10oz burger, fries, and a beer for just $8. Where I live, that barely covers the buns. It was my first trip to South America, and although my Spanish es muy malo, there were English speakers at the front desk. The room was great, and breakfast was plentiful and excellent. I’d look this place up again if I return to Colombia.

The only good part of the night was breakfast. Around 1 am, a drunk couple in the next room started screaming and hitting each other. I called the front desk several times, and the police got involved. Management didn’t make them leave, and they started fighting again. Around 4am I yelled for them to be quiet, but the man tried to pick a fight with me. Police came back. The girlfriend eventually left, but the hotel still let the hostile guy return to the room. I could hear everything through the walls. Worst night ever, it felt like I’d rented a night in the ghetto. There are better places to stay. This hotel sucks.

After staying here easily a dozen times, I brought a local Family for the weekend so we could work on a project more easily. A receptionist who had been there less than a month charged a 25$ fee for their 6 year old child. How idiotic is that? Management couldn’t care less when they were around. I’d put up with paper thin walls and dialup speed internet for too long anyway. Time to move on. They lost a lifetime customer through insulting negligence.
