The kayaks were enjoyable, the swing was smooth, and most of the staff were friendly. The owner was a different story. We said we didn’t feel we’d gotten value for our money, and she was visibly displeased. We did receive a reasonable discount, but only with a request to leave a good review. She complained about my wife for having raised concerns. I’ve never seen an owner behave like that. She should retire or sell the place so someone else can make it a little paradise again. We booked for one night at the last minute. The Booking ratings seemed okay, but we were the only family staying, despite there being more than 20 rooms. For the price, our room was very basic. The area smelled and was noisy from the nearby Flamingo pool and the generator on the Telecom tower beside the hotel. The place felt like an odd mix of new purchases, including an Instagrammable fake chopper with flowers, and badly maintained floors and rooms. My son cut his toe in the pool on a broken tile. Communication in English and Spanish wasn’t painless, even with a translator girl helping us. Two sheets were missing from our beds. We messaged her on WhatsApp, and 15 minutes later she came back with a staff member who said the sheets should already be on the beds. We’d already taken sheets from another room. The view looks across at another nearby island, so the location doesn’t give you that feeling of a wide open ocean. I’d choose Cocoliso, Borabora or Isla del sol instead, all much better. We couldn’t post a Booking review because the hotel cancelled the reservation afterwards, which is why I’m writing on Google.
