Ayenda 1408 Hotel Santiago de Cali

The staff were very good. One person tried his best to communicate in English even though we had a language barrier. But getting checked in was difficult: I arrived a little early, they wouldn't let me check in until about three, and I had to wait in the taxi until 3pm. I was given three rooms in all. The first had a dirty towel on the bed, the second had other people's things in it, and the third was OK, though the carpet was dirty. The bathroom was really, really small, and there was no view. Breakfast was the same scrambled eggs and bread every day, and the juice was awful. I wouldn't recommend this hotel. It needs a lot of improvement.

The hotel feels like it may have been nice 30 years ago, but it desperately needs updating. The booking site's location was wrong, so our taxi first took us to a much nicer part of town. We then needed another taxi because we felt unsafe walking near the hotel, and we kept taking taxis to and from it because the area didn't feel good or safe. Inside, the mattress was uncomfortable, the carpets badly stained, and the room had a slight smell. Breakfast took over half an hour to arrive and was just a small portion of egg with a tiny piece of bread. Even the salt pot in the breakfast photo seems to capture the hotel's condition. A big disappointment.

I was pushed to leave after the police showed up over a robbery, and the hotel wouldn't fix a broken bed in the room. There were nasty stains in the rooms too. The way this place felt, your things could be stolen, or you could be shot. Don't expect a warm welcome; they don't care about your opinions or feelings. Best avoided unless you enjoy drama and filth.

The rooms felt dark and humid, and the carpets were dirty. The air conditioning didn't work and made terrible noises.
