Hostal La Terraza de San Antonio

This was really frustrating. I booked the Deluxe Suite with the view, got confirmation by email, and even went to the hotel the day before to confirm in person. When I arrived, they said it wasn’t available and tried to put me in a small room with no view and tiny bunk beds. That’s no way to treat international tourists or local guests. I’ve seen hotels advertise one room and then hand over another on arrival, and it needs to stop. Nobody at the hotel spoke any English, and they didn’t even apologize for trying to switch my room.

We were disappointed to be put in a different room from the one we’d booked, even though we’d specifically insisted on that room and it cost more than the alternatives. The room we got was dirty, the beds felt damp, and the sheets didn’t seem to have been washed and dried properly. The room was also in poor shape, with doors that didn’t work properly.

We stayed in the suite because it was late and we didn’t know Cali, but we’ll never return. I’d read good reviews and thought this would be a good place to celebrate my girlfriend and my two-year anniversary. Instead, receptionist Patricia Uribe treated us in a racist and disrespectful way. Because we’re both young and Black, she seemed to question whether we could afford the suite. She asked if we’d met online, implying my girlfriend was a prostitute, and made racist remarks mocking our traditional music. I plan to report what happened in the local newspaper.

The views are beautiful, and the place feels clean and safe. There’s also a brand new rooftop bar. The staff are sweet and cozy, and they’ll do their best to take care of anything.
