Hotel Puerta de San Antonio

Rooms facing the street are extremely noisy. You can hear the traffic and everything happening outside all day. Inside, the rooms were clean, the amenities worked, and the included breakfast was pretty good. The service staff were really good too. Some things, like the power saver and phone, need clearer instructions. I tried calling the front desk but couldn’t get through.

We had paid to stay at HOTEL PUERTA DE SAN ANTONIO for three nights before, so being refused entry to the lobby later was humiliating. Around 12:30 at night, we went there to ask about a room because they weren’t answering the phone and we were nearby. The receptionist looked at us and spoke through a tiny gap in the sliding doors, saying they were full. That would have been fine, but she wouldn’t let us inside even to wait safely while we called another Uber. We were left outside without transport for 15 minutes, in Cali in the middle of the night, and she could see we were frightened and alone. She showed no empathy or willingness to help, and seemed annoyed and disgusted with us. It felt discriminatory and as though we weren’t being treated like people. We only needed a safe place in the lobby until our ride arrived. I’ll never give these people my business again. What a shameful way to treat people of any color. Do better, HOTEL PUERTA DE SAN ANTONIO. Thank God a public transport route was still running nearby, so we could get to a safe place. If you’re traveling to Cali, Colombia, steer clear unless you have some kind of printed reservation. The receptionists are ruthless and discriminatory, and they had no problem putting our safety at risk.

It’s a fine hotel apart from the laundry, which is ridiculously expensive, and the very basic breakfast. I wouldn’t pay for the laundry service here.

The staff were quite nice and breakfast was okay, but the hotel’s upkeep was poor for the price. My bathroom had black spots and wasn’t clean on the first day. The hot water failed twice, and there was also a power outage.
