The staff were super friendly, and the terrace is nice. But for somewhere marketed as a boutique hostel, I was disappointed: the toilets were dirty and the common areas didn’t feel inviting. There was AC in the room, but with only a sheet and no blanket, I ended up freezing. Breakfast was small and disappointing too.

The rooftop restaurant, Arabba, is better for drinks and the nice view than for breakfast. Options were very limited, and the food was poorly prepared, including undercooked waffles and food that wasn’t cooked enough. The wait staff seemed inexperienced and not very friendly, were impatient, and struggled to remember things and multitask.

The place was awesome, with wonderful service and a great restaurant on the terrace. I’d never had to pay for towels before, but I guess there’s a first time for everything.

Good location and wifi, but it was overpriced. The streets outside were quiet, yet inside it was noisy, and the noise came from the staff and their family living there, not other guests. I didn’t feel they respected paying guests. Breakfast was supposed to be included, but it was never offered during the three nights I stayed.

My reservation through Expedia was for December 24th to 26th, but when I arrived on Christmas Eve, Santiago DC Hostel told me it had been cancelled without notifying me. I was left without anywhere to stay in Cali at 2 AM on Christmas Day, which was incredibly stressful and inconvenient. Every other accommodation seemed fully booked for the holidays, so I spent hours searching in the middle of the night and got no help from the hostel staff. I’m extremely disappointed by Santiago DC Hostel’s lack of communication and unprofessional handling of the booking. I understand unexpected things can happen, but cancelling without telling me and offering no support showed complete disregard for my booking and well-being. I’d strongly advise against booking with Santiago DC Hostal if you want reliability and peace of mind.
