Hotel Balcones de Venecia

It’s a quaint little place in the middle of town, with lots of places to eat and drink on the block. The rooms are very small, and the water needs fixing: there’s no pressure at the sink, and the shower water was cool. Still, the management and other staff were so friendly and helpful that we had a great experience.

The hotel is cheap and right in the centre of Getsemani, so it does the job if you want a no-frills place in an excellent location. The room had good air conditioning, and the staff were welcoming. It feels a bit tired, with cheap fittings, and while I think it’s kept pretty clean, it doesn’t always feel that way. Maybe that’s just surfaces getting discoloured over time. As others have mentioned, there’s no hot water, though that’s standard in most places along the North coast, including Santa Marta and palomino. Hard to choose between three and four stars. I went with four, taking the low cost into account.

We had a great stay. Emilio looked after us and went above and beyond, making us an incredible breakfast. Thank you!

Loved this place. The rooms were spacious and clean, the air conditioning was the best, and everyone was welcoming and kind. The brownies were solid too! I’d come back.
