Casa Cochera Del Gobernador

The fourth-floor views and lovely restaurant made breakfast feel special. The arepa de huevo, carimañola, sourdough, and local fruit were all outstanding. Service was warm and attentive too. I’d put this among Cartagena’s top boutique hotels.

The rooms have plenty of space, and the rooftop pool and bar are a great place to unwind. Everyone was friendly and ready to help with whatever came up. One of the best stays inside the walls, and I’d happily come back.

We arrived before our room was ready, but the welcoming staff at Hotel Casa del Gobernador let us wait in a VIP room while they got it prepared. The room was gorgeous and roomy enough for all four of us. Food was fresh and appealing at every meal, from breakfast through dinner. My family and I had a truly memorable vacation there in August. The hotel itself is nice, but be careful with the room safe. I set a code and came back from a day in the city to find it wouldn't open and showed an error, so I called the front desk and someone came to open it so I could get my passport. Later, when I opened it again, the door plate came off in my hand. At checkout they charged a $120 USD penalty for the door, even though I had opened and closed it normally and hadn't broken it. I suspect something may have happened when the staff member came to “open it,” and that the next use made it “break,” but I can't know for sure. Keep your belongings with you and stay alert if anything seems off. The Movich is just around the corner.
