UPDATE AFTER BREAKFAST: I told them about the awful buzzer situation last night, and they said they’d make sure it wouldn’t happen again. The staff were friendlier after we talked more, so don’t judge them by the first impression. I ordered a waffle for breakfast but got pancakes because the waffle machine was apparently broken. Those pancakes were damn good, super fluffy, two stacked with a slice of amazing white cheese between them. I also brought up the low water pressure. They said there’s a pump they leave off at night so it won’t disturb guests, and we should ask for it to be turned on before morning showers. There’s no phone in the rooms, so you have to go down to the lobby to ask, unless you do what I did and yell from the third floor for Bryan to answer the damn buzzer. Things are looking up. I’ll update again after they move us tonight from this suite to our standard room.

The room was beautiful, and the AC handled Cartagena’s heat well. Breakfast was included in our rate, and it was delicious, just what we needed to get going. The hotel’s intimate size meant the employees could give caring, accommodating service. It’s within walking distance of the clock tower if you don’t mind walking several blocks. There’s also a plaza one block away with good restaurants, vendors and a little market, and Las Bovedas is a block away too. I’d recommend it to couples or solo travelers who enjoy walking around and exploring, then getting a good night’s sleep. Staying near the clock tower would have been loud, especially with the night workers.

The rooms are unusual in a fun way, with no two alike, and the beds were comfortable. The staff were great, and the service was excellent. A little quirky and odd, but it’s done very well.

An amazing house, recommended for the whole family. It’s in a great spot in the historic district, with a beautiful ocean view. Come enjoy it!
