Casa Helena Hostel Cartagena

The interior is lovely and the bed was comfortable. I've stayed in lots of hostels around South America, and this is one of the best I've experienced. Highly recommended, and thanks to all the great staff.

The location in the heart of Getsemaní made it easy to reach lively plazas, great restaurants, and Cartagena's nightlife. The hostel still felt relaxed, a nice place to return to after exploring. The rooms were spotless, comfortable, and well maintained, and the staff clearly take pride in keeping the place welcoming. Monica at the front desk made a great first impression with her warm welcome, kindness, and good humour. She made sure I had what I needed, gave me helpful recommendations, and was always smiling. Hostel Casa Helena was friendly, clean, and well located. Thanks to Monica and the team for such a special stay. I can't wait to come back!

We stayed one night in a private room here because of an issue with our room at Los Patios. The two hostels coordinated smoothly. This is a new hostel, and the rooms show it. From the rooftop pool, we could see the Castillo de San Felipe. The bar wasn't open because there were few guests, but we could buy drinks at reception.

The female dorm had two separate toilets and two showers, which felt luxurious compared with other dorms. It would be handy to have a few hooks for towels and wet clothes. I booked at a discount and thought that was a fair price. I hope they keep it competitive with other hostels nearby because this new place has lots of potential. The hostel is in a lively area that felt safe even while I was traveling solo. I liked the beds and rooftop pool, and the staff were very friendly. Not everything is finished yet, though. The rooftop could be a great place to relax and socialize with a couple of comfortable chairs.
