Centro Hotel Cartagena

For my two nights in Cartagena before my flight, I loved this place. The price was excellent for what you get, and the bunk bed was the nicest I've seen in a hostel, really like a little bedroom. The hostel looked brand new and was very pretty, with A/C in the rooms and shared spaces. There was an employee and a security guard there 24/7, and I felt very safe on my own. The location is very central. The only downside for me was that I couldn't find a kitchen, which may be why they call it a hotel. I'd recommend it.

The patio was nice to sit on, the room was clean, and security was top notch. The place was clean and the general area was cool. But it literally stunk. The main area outside the rooms smelled like pee the whole time we were there, for multiple days.

Plenty of local food places nearby, and a great spot within the walled city. The place is generally clean and the bed is fine, but there's no hot water, no kitchen, and the bathroom is missing basics like hooks for clothes or towels while you shower. Staff were okay, though they could be friendlier. At least for me, it didn't have the usual hostel vibe.

Terrible. We booked a private double room for a few nights, but on arrival the receptionist offered us a whole dormitory instead, saying our room wasn't available because of maintenance. We had fortunately found another guest's review describing the exact same thing, so we confronted the receptionist. He eventually admitted he'd sold our room to someone else. This has never happened to us before. We did get our money back, and I really hope they lost some money over it that day.
