Walter at reception was fantastic and went out of his way to make our stay pleasant. There are five pools, plenty of places to unwind by them, and a beach as well. The beach chairs are handled separately from the hotel, as they should be since the beach isn’t private. Breakfast was outstanding. We didn’t eat other meals at the hotel, instead stopping at a tiny local beach restaurant for lunch and stocking up on water and snacks during an outing. Coffee comes with breakfast, though lattes and fancier drinks cost extra. There are also two Juan Valdez coffee shops on site. I loved the sauna and Turkish baths, and enjoyed the mini golf and board games. I’ll definitely come back.

It was my first trip to Colombia, a holiday with my kids, and we really enjoyed the pools and the comfortable beds. The location was convenient but still quiet, and the sunset is one of the best in the world. Walter gave us great service, and my massage and facial with Natalys at the spa was one of the best I’ve ever had. Napoleon at the front was such a kind, helpful person. One tip if you go to bed early: ask for a room away from the main lobby, because the nightly entertainment runs until 10:30.

I’ve stayed here several times and used to think it was a pretty good hotel, but this year was a completely different story. The rooftop Erre Restaurant is still top notch, one of the best in town, and gets five stars from me. The rest of the stay was disappointing. There were very few room amenities. A coffee machine seems like a basic thing these days, but there was no coffee. The buffet offered three protein choices: dry chicken breast, meat or pork, and fish. One day the pork and chicken didn’t look good to me, so I asked for three small pieces of fish, about 2”x2”. They said I could have only one. When I said I’d go to the back of the line again, they gave me a second piece. That meal cost $36 USD per person. A private company event began on Friday, and at 7:00 am they started blasting music in a public area central to all the rooms, as loud as a disco. Forget sleeping in or taking a nap during the day. Everything costs extra, and it costs a lot. This doesn’t feel like a five star hotel, it’s totally not family friendly, and I wouldn’t repeat the experience.

I’ve stayed here a number of times and always enjoy it. The hotel is right on the ocean, with lovely sunsets, big balconies and beautiful views. The staff are great, and security is good too. Rafael at the front desk was especially awesome, professional, helpful and friendly.

The rooms are a little dated, but comfortable and plenty good enough for a weekend. Noise was the main downside: the air conditioning units made some odd sounds, and I could hear people in neighboring rooms easily. Even so, I had a very nice weekend in Cartagena. The staff were kind, attentive and helpful throughout, which made the place feel welcoming. The food was excellent, full of flavor and well prepared. Those things made the stay a pleasure, and I’d still recommend the hotel for a nice visit.
