Hotel Don Pedro de Heredia

The front desk and other staff were warm and pleasant, and the place was clean, with hot showers and strong air conditioning. Its historic centre location makes it easy to walk to lots of other spots. There's a rooftop breakfast area, and another guest said the small ground-floor pool was nice. Just remember to register any visitors ahead of time, since unregistered guests aren't allowed in.

On February 6, 2026, I want to respond to the hotel's comment. I can only edit my review, so I'm adding this here. I have no reason to lie. Check my name and the date I stayed, and look at your cameras if you want to confirm what happened. I booked through Priceline and expected an email asking me to review the hotel, but it never came. It took me a while to write this because I was travelling and busy. Now I'm planning another trip to Cartagena and saw the hotel on Priceline again. I thought that if I posted about the problem, maybe the hotel could address it and I might stay there another time. I had reserved a room for two. My friend is from Venezuela, and the attendant said she needed Colombian ID to enter. He wouldn't accept her Venezuelan ID, and then refused again when she brought paperwork showing a valid visa for Colombia. I gave him 50,000 pesos, and only then did he let her in. If her documents weren't good enough, why did the money change his mind? To me, it seemed he wanted a bribe. He's a very bad guy.

In both rooms, 403 and 502, we found mold on the beds and walls, and we couldn't breathe properly. The hotel needs to clean these rooms properly and make sure they're safe before anyone books. I don't usually leave negative reviews, but the place hasn't been cared for. The staff were kind enough to cancel our booking. I do feel bad for them if they didn't know about the mold.

The staff were friendly, and that's the main reason I'd consider staying again. The central Cartagena location is handy for seeing the city, but the area is noisy, especially with the rooftop bar next door making sleep difficult. Breakfast was okay, neither bad nor especially good. The rooms are small, dated, and could be cleaner. Our minibar leaked, and the air conditioning wasn't working when we arrived, though they fixed it after we complained. It seems like this may once have been a great hotel, but it's lost a lot of its former shine.
