We were a group of about a dozen, booked roughly 4 or 5 rooms for about a week, and the room sizes varied. One I saw was quite small, while a few others had plenty of space. Our balcony was joined to a multi-room unit, with a partly blocked view of the Caribbean Sea, which was a nice extra. The property is beautiful, with a coffee shop on the first floor and an art gallery. Events in the courtyard can give you more of a feel for local culture. The breakfast was alright, though knowing Spanish helps. Front-desk staff spoke both languages, but the rest of the staff, as far as I could tell, did not. There were no hot showers, but after a couple of times, you can get used to it.

From room 311, you can see the sea, and the staff were polite and nice. Luis and Aura were especially helpful, sharing information about tours and other options. The hotel is in an art academy and also has a gallery and cafe. There's no elevator, but it's still a nice place.

The location was great, and breakfast was good. The bedrooms are really small, though. It's a nice hotel in an old convent, with an exhibition center and coffee house on the first floor.

A great hidden spot for coffee. The cafe has a huge range of coffee preparations, and the barista can guide you and show you how to make the one you choose. When I visited, the museum was showing photographs by local artists. You can also watch the local classical orchestra and musical groups practicing for free. Ask at the coffee bar for details.

El Claustro is a school and art gallery, and there's usually something interesting happening there. It also runs a wonderful yearly program bringing music and art to underprivileged children in Cartagena, with teachers for string players and luthiers who repair instruments free of charge. The place is beautiful and has an interesting atmosphere, though very bare-bones. The experience felt honest and welcoming. Not for spoiled Paris Hilton types. Stay Inca Hilton.
