Hostal Badillo SV

I had a really pleasant stay, with great staff and guests. I’d stay here again.

The location was good, and it was nice having air conditioning in the room. There was a cockroach in the bathroom, though.

There were several good points: the location was excellent, the shared balcony was great, the rooms were large and had air conditioning, reception was staffed throughout, the staff were friendly and helpful, and the price was fair. My room had little light and no window, and there was no mosquito net. At first we were given a room with extensive mold on the wall and in the bathroom. The man at reception handled it very professionally and moved us to another room, but the moldy room should not have been offered to any guest. That was the main reason I took off a star.

We left early, though to their credit they refunded us for two nights. The location is excellent, there’s a big common balcony, and the dorms are large and bright. Our room at the back of the hotel smelled of paint or some kind of chemical and looked nothing like the online photos. The furniture was stained and miniature, there was a strange alcove leading right under a creaky wooden staircase, and the paint job looked like schoolchildren had done it. We didn’t have a great experience.
