The bed was very comfortable, the hotel was clean, and the AC cooled the room well despite the extreme heat. The cleaning staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. They went out of their way with the cleaning, looked after our bags between hotels, and made sure we had suitable transport to the next one. The old city location is ideal. It would have been an easy five stars if some basic maintenance had been handled. The towel rail, floating nightstand, coat hanger, and toilet paper holder were all barely attached to the wall and hard to use. Maybe it was just our room, but the bathroom door wouldn't fully open or close.

Once I was finally settled, everything was great, but getting in and getting my room sorted was confusing. I hadn't been given the entry code, so I was knocking and trying to get inside until another guest let me in. Someone from the hotel came downstairs and gave me a code, but my room wasn't ready yet, which was okay. When I came back, I didn't know which room was mine and nobody was around. It turned out the person to see was the woman working at the bar attached to the hotel, who gave me another code. There are a lot of codes to keep track of.

The staff were friendly, but there was only one towel in our room for two people. At checkout, they charged us without warning for supposedly stealing a towel, even though the second one had never been there. When I came back to explain, nobody seemed to care and they appeared to trust the cleaner more. Be careful of extra charges. I've never experienced anything like it.

The hotel staff were sometimes helpful, but management handled things terribly. The Wi-Fi stayed down for the rest of my stay, and they offered no real alternative. I was told the outage was due to telco repairs, which may not have been their fault, but I asked for a late checkout and a data recharge and they refused both. Worse, they told me to check out right then and find another hotel, on the same day I was trying to resolve the issue. An hour before checkout, the power went out across the area, leaving no electricity or water. I needed to wash up, so I asked for water bottles, then they insisted I pay for them at checkout. I was traveling in Latam for two months, and this was the worst hotel of the trip. Before arrival, they replied promptly when I asked about payment, and the room was reasonably clean. I paid in advance and was told they'd send check-in details, but nothing came. When I messaged from Cartagena, my WhatsApp message showed one tick. I'm a digital nomad working three online jobs, so reliable Wi-Fi matters a lot. It was extremely spotty for the first day and a half, then completely gone on day three, despite being advertised as free. When I complained, a staff member said it was down, bought me coffee at a café so I could use its Wi-Fi, and promised repairs in 20 minutes. Five hours later, it still wasn't working. I had three hours of online meetings that night and was really annoyed. He suggested buying mobile data to hotspot, but when he asked me to pay, I refused. I had booked the room because it included free Wi-Fi. Switching the hotspot between my phone and laptop was awkward, but I managed. The next morning, staff woke me several times saying I had to check out, even though I had two consecutive reservations and had been told before arrival I could stay in the same room. I contacted management and found out I hadn't paid for one reservation, despite their WhatsApp confirmation that I had. That was my mistake, so I paid. The staff could be okay and helpful, but management seemed selfish, focused on profit, and exploitative, with no sense of good customer service. There are much better hotels nearby. I wouldn't recommend this one.

It's midnight as I write this, and there's a party in the lobby with nobody from the hotel doing anything. I can't sleep. I booked this place only because my flight was delayed and it was near my previous hotel. This was the worst decision of my trip to Colombia. I'd rather sleep on the street.
